I posted this in the comments a few days ago, after thinking about McCain's absurd assertion that folks at Obama's events have been uttering similar vile threats to those that have been occurring on a regular basis at McCain and Palin events in the last few weeks. Here's the vid of that idiotic claim by the engineer of the Straight Jacket Express:
The charge is so blatantly false (and the original charge against McCain's audiences is so well documented) that it's baffling to me that Obama hasn't pounced on this one yet. It has the potential, if played right, to be a game ender.
Anyway, below the fold is one approach for Obama to drive this point home in tonight's degate. Read it and rec it if you think it's worthy of promotion:
Senator McCain claimed the other day that folks at my rallies have shouted similar vile things as those that have been recorded at his events.
Let me be clear: I have never heard these kinds of comments uttered at our events, nor have I ever heard or read a report of such a thing. If I had heard (or heard of) someone, for example, shouting "Kill him," or "Bomb McCain," I would have reported it to the Secret Service and assisted them in every way possible in apprehending such an individual, at the moment the threat was made, if possible.
And I wouldn't give a damn if that person was a Democrat or not, and I certainly wouldn't be afraid of insulting any idiots in my Party who might approve of such hateful comments. These would not be folks I would want to share an affiliation with, and I'm surprised that Senator McCain and Governor Palin haven't taken decisive steps to eliminate this kind of fringe commentary from their rallies.
Even if he doesn't say something like this tonight, he could make this into a killer ad highlighting his position on the moral high ground. I really think this is a match-point if played well.
