I don't usually do poll diaries, but it is my home state and I thnk this is a really good sign.
Over the last century, Missouri has voted for the winner in the presidential election every time but one. (In 1956, it supported the neighboring Illinois Governor, Adlai Stevenson.) This is because its broad mix of urban and rural, south and north, eastern and western tends to reflect the country as a whole to some degree.
If McCain does not win Missouri, he will lose. Obama has many ways to get to 270, but it's hard to see McCain doing it without Missouri.
And a new poll shows Obama opening up his biggest lead: 6%
More, after the fold
Barack Obama has expanded his lead over John McCain in Missouri to six percentage points.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds Obama with 52% of the vote while McCain is supported by 46%. Earlier this week, Obama was on top 50% to 47%.
Obama leads among voters who earn less than $60,000 a year while McCain has the advantage among those who earn $60,000 to $100,000 a year. Those with higher incomes are evenly divided

National polls may show some tightening up over the next weeks, but watch the states and where the candidates are campaigning. The blue states are not in play anymore and Obama is starting to take off in purple and light red states. Even Georgia may be in play.
