The League of Conservation Voters just sent out its 2008 environmental scorecard and rated Republican faux-moderate Chris Shays just 54% this year. That's by far the lowest in the Connecticut congressional delegation. And that's for a guy whom LCV has not only endorsed, but labled an "environmental hero". What a joke!! Will they now switch their endorsement to Democrat Jim Himes? Issue an "oops!"? Let's recall that just last night at the debate at Fairfield University Shays touted his "environmental hero" title and his "92%" lifetime rating from the League.
I certainly hope that Jim Himes points out his lousy environmental record in the next debate!
Perusing LCV's 2008 scorecard, one sees that 67 congressmen received ratings of 0%... and all 67 are Republicans. Moreover, Roy Blunt, the guy whom Shays supported enthusiastically to replace Tom DeLay as majority leader, received a zero from LCV- again! Indeed, Blunt has a lifetime LCV record of just 2%. Now let me get this straight: Shays touts himself as an "environmental hero", but has no qualms about supporting as the leader of congressional Republicans a guy who regularly is rated a zero on key environmental lssues. Isn't that the definition of a hypocrite?
Every day Shays earns his monicker of "Both Ways" Shays!
