Thanks to TomP for this excellent tip -- it's in the prepared remarks for Obama's appearance in Tampa, Florida today:
I am hopeful about the outcome. We were thrilled yesterday when a great American statesman, General Colin Powell, joined our cause. But we cannot let up. And we won't.
Because one thing we know is that change never comes without a fight. In the final days of campaigns, the say-anything, do-anything politics too often takes over. We've seen it before. And we're seeing it again today. The ugly phone calls. The misleading mail and TV ads. The careless, outrageous comments. All aimed at keeping us from working together, all aimed at stopping change.
It's getting so bad that even Senator McCain's running mate denounced his tactics last night. As you know, you really have to work hard to violate Governor Palin's standards on negative campaigning.
Here's the link to the report on the Time site....
UPDATED: This remark came in response to this from Palin last night:
If I called all the shots, and if I could wave a magic wand," Palin told CNN, "I would be sitting at a kitchen table with more and more Americans, talking to them about our plan to get the economy back on track and winning the war, and not having to rely on the old conventional ways of campaigning that includes those robocalls".
Palin questioned both parties' spending on TV advertisements, saying they were "kind of draining out there in terms of Americans' attention span".

More and more you get the sense of a campaign with its punches all planned. One good thing after another. The other side keeps handing them material, and they swing back POW!
I would also bet money that a certain Mr Franken has been moonlighting from his day job to provide a good line or two to the big guy from Chicago....
Please rec this diary so that everybody can forward this hilarity to their friends.
