Lot's of people have seen this video. It's the one of McCain staffers and supporters running off anti-muslim "Americans" from a McCain-Palin rally.
Lots of people have talked about this video being fake, that we shouldn't trust it, that it's not real.
Fellow Kossacks, let me tell you when this video will become real...
If we have our way, if we work hard, if we canvass and campaign, and get people to the polls, we're going to need this video.
On January 20th, 2009 when Barack Obama is sworn in (voters willing) as the President of the United States of America, there will be McCain supporters who won't trust him. There are going to be Republicans who are upset because they think he's a Muslim.
There will still exist in this country a bias against muslim people that's is unconscionable. And the man and woman in this video will be it's poster children.
The Republicans will have no compunction about fomenting this hatred, much as they've fomented hatred towards women, hispanics, blacks, gays and every other minority group in this country.
And there will be people who will say Barack Obama is a Muslim.
It will be the job, the moral responsibility, of Kossacks and Progressives and Liberals to shout down this hatred and run it out of our political discourse. Not just for President Obama, but for every minority in this country. And the first thing we can do is use their own, Republican, words as proof that this hatred towards Muslims and every minority is not to be trusted. It will be our job to say to those people that even if it were true, so what?
This video shows that even amid a campaign hatred will not be tolerated, by ANY political party. This video, illustrates what Colin Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama signified. That this country can no longer tolerate hatred on the ground of politics.
And for those of you who believe this video was staged, well, wouldn't THAT irony be all the sweeter on January 20th, 2009?
