Obama is changing American one vote at a time. This was proven to me on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 in Atlanta, GA. I've learned that economy can trump racism, sexism, ageism, and even ignorance.
The Elections Office was already crowded! It was 10am, early voting in Georgia just started 2 days ago. As I got in line there was a sign that stated (45 minutes from this point). There were people of all cultural and ethnic background. In front of me was this couple who "looked" as if they were from a rural area. They had on the red checker flannel shirts with suspenders. The man had on his boots and hat and was even snuffing Skoal and put the pack in his jeans backpocket. You can see the faded circle where he as been a longtime chewing "tobacky" user.
Behind me was a very proud 50-ish white blonde woman and she was talking about PUMA. Everyone was trying to ignore, BUT I had to "crush" her synopsis. I told her "Well, I guess we will be discounting each other's vote since I'm voting for Obama". She kept going on and on about PUMA and McCain.
Then the woman in front of me who had a look of disgust on her face stated "I'm Redneck for Obama, so O will have 2 votes up on McCain". As she said that her husband spitted on the ground of the snuff he had and they turned around. I shut up, the PUMA shut up, and the older black female behind me winked at me.
Redneck for Obama. I like the ring of that.
