Yes, they went there. And thankfully Keith Olbermann was able to call them out. I heard about this first on Thom Hartmann this morning and was outraged. I've been waiting for a clip and I found it at the Huffington Post and it does not give me the option to embed in the post. I did however find what Keith Olbermann had to say about this, after the cut.
But I just can't figure out what's worse about this awful line of attack on Obama. I mean, first this "spokesperson" (not for McCain) was trying to deflect the question regarding Palin's outrageous spending spree at the cost of the RNC. And then to question why a Presidential candidate can't take a commercial jetliner to Hawaii is just absurd, or maybe a "smaller" plane.
"Forget about the energy that is wasted, what about the hundreds of thousands of dollars to take a private trip when this guy should be humping his bags on a commercial plane or taking a smaller plane. Taking a 767 of campaign money from people who could least afford it is more of an outrage in my opinion."
He didn't even answer the question! He just deflected the question entirely and I find that the outrage by Olbermann makes me feel just a little bit sane. Because, I do believe, that no one in their right mind would attack a man for visiting his DYING Grandmother.
Mr. Obama is not MR. OBAMA, He is Senator Obama running for President. The security measures are overwhelming and a trans Pacific flight is not just puddle jump that one can take a small plane on anyway.
I know, outrage is everywhere these days as things get uglier and we get closer to the end of this very "silly" season but there are times when someone should question what they are about to say. This guy probably sat down and spoke about his talking points. I mean, people thought about this before he said it, right?
Shame on you Mr. Blakeman. John McCain has defended the talking points of his campaign, the hate speech at his rallies and the outright lies of his Vice Presidential candidate and he will probably stand by and not condemn this awful bit of deflection from a Republican Hack.
Please, send your well wishes to Grandma Obama (Post cards are better), she is the reason why we have such an amazing candidate this year. Tell her how much we appreciate her hard work, her love and her grit.

Or just donate to the campaign in her name.
Senator Obama is right in taking this time to care for his family, the person who raised him and made him who he is. It's the only right thing to do and the Republican party has lost it's way so completely, they don't know what right means anymore. Where is the outrage? I thought so.
$150,000 on clothing paid by the RNC includes money from people like Joe the Plumber (He did donate to the McCain campaign, didn't you know?). What about spreading their wealth around to Sarah Palin and her family?
I think of it this way, my husband has a Ph.D. and he owes over $150,000 in student loans. We just got his new payment booklet today, they have increased his payments by $250 a month at a time when we can least afford it. The gall of these people. I know that everyone has a story of some kind, one that illustrates just how out of touch Sarah Palin really is with "everyday" America and how that $150,000 means more than a $3,000 purse for their seven year old daughter.
It's these attitudes that sicken me about the Republican Party and this is the photo that sums it up for me. This is Dana Rohrabacher, the incumbent Congressman in California's 46th district. He has been in Congress for 20 years and this is the contempt he has for his opponent, Huntington Beach Mayor Debbie Cook. This is the ugliness we face, epitomized in his seedy stare. It gives me the chills.
