Final Update
Attend the tale of Ashley Todd
Her skin was pale and her eye was odd
Claimed her face was scarred by Obama's men
Who never thereafter were heard of again...
Original Diary
From KDKA:
A Pittsburgh police commander says a volunteer for the McCain campaign who reported being robbed and attacked near a bank ATM in Bloomfield has confessed to making up the story. Police say charges will be filed.
Holy shit.
Now what?

Remember what the Executive VP of Fox said:
This incident could become a watershed event in the 11 days before the election. If Ms. Todd’s allegations are proven accurate, some voters may revisit their support for Senator Obama, not because they are racists (with due respect to Rep. John Murtha), but because they suddenly feel they do not know enough about the Democratic nominee. If the incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain’s quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting.
Who would have thought that Michelle Malkin, of all people, would be the voice of reason in this mess.
Let's see how long it takes for the apologies from Drudge and RedState to come flowing.
(waits....)

Hmm.
In any event, I frankly don't think it's enough to charge this racist with merely filing a false police report. She needs to be charged with a hate crime. This was a hoax with the sole intent of inciting racial violence and hatred for the purpose of swinging a Presidential election.
She is a national disgrace. I have no sympathy.
Let her rot in jail.
Updates: http://kdka.com/...
Still waiting for any of the network news outlets who broke into regular programming yesterday with "evil negro Obama-supporting thug assaults and mutilates 20-year-old white girl for being a McCain volunteer" to run a new breaking news story with the truth. CNN? Fox? MSNBC? Anyone???
Or... at least an official statement from McCain or Palin?
Another update: Oddly enough, the first to finally break the fraud story was Fox, and Drudge is leading with "She Made it Up!" Looks like MSNBC is finally on board, so I'm sure CNN, ABC, etc., will eventually follow.
Incidentally, since I'm up here, we at http://truthandhope.org/ are still raising money for POSITIVE, hope-filled ads for the last two weeks of the campaign, including Lee Hirsch's wonderful Local Voices campaign, adorable kid-based ads from Mamas for Obama (the awesome "Prayer" ad is currently airing in Florida), and the new Elders for Obama series which you can send to your grandparents! Although I know you all liked our anti-McCain ads early on, at times like this, it's best to fight hate and bigotry with hope and love. Americans are looking for a positive message, and incidents like this racist hoax should remind us what we're all fighting for.
