As most of you already know, McCain volunteer Ashley Todd's bizarre pulp fiction nightmare, torn from the pages of a white supremacist pamphlet, turned out to be entirely made up and a hoax, to the deep deep embarassment of the right wing operatives who promoted her story.
Object lesson.
We all want to show sympathy for our compatriots fighting the good fight, especially when they come to the Daily Kos diary list with tales of woe inflicted on them by dastardly McCain supporters. But remember, these stories are often anonymous, and impossible to verify. Therefore, I would urge people to exercise caution before jumping on the "recommend" bandwagon, and to wait for more information before validating a story.
We're winning. There is no need for us to trumpet unverified and potentially false stories of McCain campaign misdeeds, or those of their supporters. We can win without them, and there's no need to take the risk of getting punk'd.
That is all.
