Well, I suppose that before I retract my apology I need to actually give my apology.
A good few months ago I tossed a few hundred dollars to the Obama primary campaign, basically for a couple of reasons: I truly felt he and he alone could paste any of the Republican contenders come November; and because he, personally, is one of the singularly most inspiring human beings I've seen in decades.
And of course when you give once you're in the system, and it seems like every day is another request from Joe, David, Michelle, Barack et al for another $20, $30, $50, and the past few days $250.
And I'm not complaining about that at all. However...
the deal is that I've recently started my own business and I'm really watching dollars like crazy (and quarters and dimes these days). You guys seem to have enough dough (Jeebus - $150 Million in September? - that's insane), so what I've been doing is tossing whatever I can whenever I can to the ActBlue folks like Darcy Burner and Bob Lord and the others on the dKos page including the Hell To Pay targets. I figure hey - they need my $25 tossers more than you guys, and in fact I'm doing well enough that I can at least give them what I would be spending on cigarettes each week had I not quit earlier this year.
So I really wanted to apologize to Barack and Michelle and Joe and everyone in the campaign and let you know that I wasn't ignoring you and wasn't mad at you (and in fact already voted for you) - but I'm just trying to help as many others as I can in this push to the end -- while at the same time not going completely broke.
But now I say fuck that noise.
Tweety just mentioned that you guys are going through $293,000 an hour since the first of this month. That's more math than I can do in my head, but I can tell that's an assload of cash.
And it sure seems to be working.
And it sure seems that if you thought you had enough COH you wouldn't still be asking for more.
So fuck that apology crap. Honey, get my wallet, will ya? We have a President to help get elected.
PS: I'm not going to abandon the ActBlue folks either - I'm just going to accept the ensuing "leaving it on the road" rash and carry on.
Let's go get 'em folks, there also.
