I want to say, first, I live in Collier County, Florida. This county is blood-red. I've lived in this area my whole life. Up until recently, the Collier Dem's didn't even have an HQ to call home, but they do now.
I am a young family man with 4 children. I have been passionate about the Obama ticket, but timid at first to talk to anyone about it. I am the type that likes to have all my info first before talking about a controversial topic, especially since I know I'll have people that will disagree with me.

I first convinced my wife to register to vote. She is 22 and never registered to vote until recently during the primaries. My first task was to talk about Obama and his plans to "practice" to see if I wasn't crazy. It worked.
From there, I got stone-walled by older family members who were the typical "low information" voters. I tried hard not to make it an issue, but still tried to raise the topic when I could.
The most difficult family members to talk to were my in-laws - particularly because my wife wasn't as enthusiastic about politics as I am, and they constantly bugged her to "change her mind"; she didn't of course.
To make a long story short, I continued to talk to my co-workers and friends and found that they, too, like Obama. Now, these friends of mine are in the appropriate age range to support Obama, so I felt more comfortable talking with them.
Here's the inspiration: My wife's mother and aunt invited her over for some hang out time. They threw their two-cents in about how "Obama is bad",..etc. Me and my wife already voted for the Dem tickets in our area. Her aunt made the statement that her vote and her mother's vote "canceled" our votes out, as if to brag...my wife brushed it off to avoid conflict and divert the conversation.
I was told this when I got home, but gave her very good news. "Just because of me and you honey", I added, "we have gotten 14 people to the polls for early voting, and the Collier Dem's marched 300 more on Oct. 20th." She smiled and said "I know."
So if anyone is feeling like a McCain comeback is on its way, I'll say to you that if a Republican is proud that they are "tied" in a very RED county, then we got this. Get your friends out there, drive them if you have to!!! Bug 'em till they hate you!
Sorry to give a boring story, just wanted to brag a bit from "Neo-con central".
My voters would also be voting for FL-25 (Joe Garcia), FL-14 (Robert Neeld) and Florida State House District 101 (Maria Jimenez) ...All dems baby!
