The election will be over in nine days, and it is beginning to look as though Virginians have made their choices in the statewide races. Now it is just a matter of Getting Out the Vote ("GOTV"). This is the critical task of the last week of the election.
Now is the time to volunteer for Barack Obama. Whether you are a returning volunteer or this is your first time, every pair of willing hands will be needed in the coming week.
Below is a list of all the Barack Obama offices in Virginia. Each office has its own unique needs. Phone banking is always a staple. Others may need help with canvassing and visibility (campaign signs). There has been a request for food, drinks, and snacks, but I would call ahead and find out what your local Obama office needs most.
Some campaign staples:
- Coffee, coffee sugar, and non-dairy coffee creamer
- Packs of peanut butter or cheese crackers
- Snack size candy bars
- Snack sized bags of potato chips or snacks
- Apples
- Snack sized packets of peanuts or trail mix
- Mixed candy, hard candy
- Ramen noodle bowls
- Microwave popcorn packs
If you are ready to step up to actual campaign cooking, cooking for lots of people, consider the following:
- Baked spaghetti or pasta (make this in a disposable aluminum tray you can leave and not worry about picking up) meatballs are a nice addition
- Lasagna (same as above)
- Casseroles
- Barbecue
- Grilled chicken quarters
- Stews, jambalayas, chicken and dumplings
