Yes, as an ardent Obama supporter, I actually enjoy seeing McCain/Palin signs and stickers. Why? What could cause this guilty pleasure of mine, seeing these measures of support for the opposition? Simple...
When you see a McCain/Palin sign, it helps us in an interesting way - it reminds people that Sarah Palin would be a 72-year old heartbeat away from the presidency if McCain wins.
Palin's unfavorables keep rising, and a quickly growing number of people have decided she is completely unqualified for the VP slot. A growing chorus of newspaper endorsements and conservatives have been blasting McCain for this gimmick of a VP pick. It was the most important decision of his candidacy, and he didn't just blow it - he threw it down the drain. (Perhaps that's why he likes Joe the Plumber so much - he needs someone to try to fish his chances of winning out of that drain.)
When undecideds consider McCain, the thought of Palin in office causes many of them to shudder. People need to remember that a vote for McCain is also a vote for the next version of Dick Cheney, except with even worse qualifications. As many anvils as we've thrown McCain, there's none heavier than Sarah Palin. And that's why I like seeing her name on yard signs and stickers.
No matter how much she's dragging the GOP ticket down, though, let's keep tossing the S.S. McCain more and more anvils and sink that ship!
