Calm Down...Calm Down...Don't worry, ACORN didn't register me, or anything(sorry FOX NOISE). Although, today, me and many other high schoolers, voted for Senator Barack Obama. Keep reading below the fold...
Today my school held an election. It is a statewide program that is going on to find out who the children want to see be the next president of the United States. I didn't think much of it until my teacher told me that the results were going to be in the "local" MSM.
I began asking EVERYBODY who they were going to vote for. and EVERYBODY told me that Obama had their vote. This excited me until I started a conversation with my friend in Biology. You are not going to believe this, but she said that her father had told her that Obama was a communist/socialist, and that she did not like him anymore. She went on to tell me that on television she saw the Mickey Mouse was registered to vote, and that she was disappointed in Obama. I thought about that for a second, and then asked her, were you watching FOX NEWS. She replied, "yeah....that's the only channel my family watches". I began telling her everything about Fox News, and what a fake source it was. I even sent her a bunch of OUTFOXED clips on Myspace. I then told her that Obama had nothing to do with ACORN, and that Mickey Mouse was not going to vote anywhere, anytime soon. After about 15 minutes of convincing arguments, and 2 warnings from my Bio. teacher, she was convinced, and i was relieved.
Anyway, this is not the first state to do this as many of you know, and the results for the nation were the following:
Scholastic Magazine has been conducting a mock presidential election for its readers (children in grades one through twelve) since 1940. The poll this year closed on October 10. Approximately 250,000 ballots were cast. Apparently the ballot this year only named Barack Obama and John McCain, but a write-in line was provided.
The results: Obama 57%, McCain 39%, write-ins 4%. Scholastic did not give any information about write-ins, except to say eleven percent of the write-ins were for Hillary Clinton. Scholastic did say this is the highest percentage of write-ins ever recorded in any of its presidential elections.
Now, there are some silly kids who were going to write in "Chuck Norris", but were disappointed when they found out we were voting by computer touch-screen (they better have a paper trail!!!) =)
Finally, I just wanted to say, make sure you get everyone out to vote. I know I'm preaching to the choir when I say this, but it doesn't hurt. Let's not get complacent. Keep donating, keep phone-banking, and go out and cast a real ballot, for someone who can't right now (me). I know we are really close, but like Obama said, let's not take anything for granted.
As Always:
OBAMA/BIDEN 08' 12'
