Barack Obama's infomercial last night was great. It both solidified all the reasons I support him and educated me, it gave me spirit and heart at a time when we're all getting a bit tired. I hope it had its effect on swing voters.
But the greatest gift, IMHO, was: cancelling Fox' baseball pre-game, sparing the world from a half hour of Jeanne Zelasko.
Of course, there's always a chance she'll end up doing political coverage election night....
Of course, there were some real oddities surrounding the (literal) inside baseball of this contest. John McCain kept claiming repeatedly Obama had delayed the start of the game, as if, were this true, it would be a reason to vote against him. Obama of course did not, he merely pre-empted a bunch of blather on Fox (what a change of pace Fox Sports is from Fox News).
But think about the deep pandering McCain is offering here -- he said he'd NEVER pre-empt a baseball game as President? Meaning, he'd never address the nation between 7:30 and 12:30 at night during the seven-month baseball season? Better watch out, Soap Opera fans, or hope international crises requiring a Presidential address come only during the off-season. (Pity the poor hockey, basketball, and football fans, of course).
Yes, indeed, pro sports are more important than a Presidential message. That's the McCain message here.
