Mike Ditka, former coach of the Chicago Bears as well as a Pennsylvania native, introduced Sarah Palin at a rally in Latrobe, PA today. During his introduction, Ditka repeated John Kennedy's quote, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." I thought it odd that he would quote one of the men to whom Senator Obama is most compared. But Mr. Ditka wasn't done.
Ditka continues:
This seemed to be just the opposite. This is the land of opportunity, not a land of handouts. If you're willing to work you can find a job. If you're willing to work you can find a job.
The relevant quote begins at the 2:22 minute mark.
Hey, Mike, tell that to all those factory workers in PA, OH, MI, WI, IN and elsewhere who have been laid off because their jobs were shipped overseas. Tell that to workers who have lost their jobs because comanpies are downsizing because George Bush's economy sucks.
My company has done one round of lay-offs this year with at least one more to go before Christmas. I hung on to my job because I'm willing to work evening hours and I have one "special" skill set. But, according to Mike, so many aren't willing to work. Well, screw you, Mike!
