A brief introduction. I'm Dave originally from the UK and resident in Australia for the past 35 years. In many ways the US and Australia are similar, both founded and reliant on people from other countries who made the country great. I was brought up with the Labour movement (Democrat) I would go to the trades hall to pay my dad's union fees and listen to the speakers. One thing that stayed with me was the solidarity and to support those not as fortunate. If this is socialism or communism or christianity so be it. To me they are just labels.
I passed what in the UK was know as the 11+ a test to see whether you went to a grammar school or a normal public school. My dad took me to where he worked as a boilermaker and said well do you want to work in a place like this?. It was hell, smelt like it,the heat, the grime and to be honest for not much wages. One thing that was instilled in me from an early age was, no matter where you get to in life, never forget those less fortunate. To me thats not socialism or communism its basic common decency. The class system in England was firmly entrenched when I left to come here. Alone as a 17yo.I will never forget the kindness and advice shown by people who admired the balls of a 17 yo to get up off his arse or ass lol, to find something else.
The youth of America don't have to move 12,000 miles from home, they don't have to leave family and friends to find a better way, they have to do one simple thing.
And that's vote.
Stand in a line for 8 hrs?...that's nothing..my first flight ever was to come to Australia and that was a 36 hour flight. For an uncertain future. YOUR future is almost guaranteed if you just stand in that line and vote. You'll have what I had. Hope. Hope for a better future Hope for a better life for me and my children. So please. Stand as long as it takes. JUST VOTE
Thank You for your indulugence and fingers crossed come Nov 5th a better future for you, your children and the world.
The World is with you
