Hello everyone. There's a few subjects mixed into one Diary, so bear with me.
Edit: On the rec list? Thanks everybody for your show of support.
First, my apology: A few days ago I received a chain-email talking about Blue States divorcing Red States. It was from 2004 and there were some things in it that I found amusing, like when the letter mentioned Blue States' pot being better than the Red States' "dirt weed." Had I taken it seriously I would not have seen the humor in it. I took it with a grain of salt and laughed at some of the absurdities. So I posted the letter on Dailykos. It was meant to be a lighthearted but some didn't take it that way.
For those of you who were offended- and especially those working to turn red-states blue, I apologize. I live in North Carolina and my family is doing everything we can to turn this red state, and with some progress.
For the few who made rude, expletive remarks, grow up.
I can joke about things without taking them to heart or even meaning them, but I didn't consider the high visibility of Dailykos or the sensitive nature of this campaign. Especially as it pertains to unity, one of Obama's themes.

A while back I sent an email looking for information on Blue Star Families For Obama. One of the local leaders called me back and talked to me about the program. I talked with my wife about it and was happy to learn that she was enthusiastic about participating.
Soon after I attended my first Obama Rally in Fayetteville, NC (pics below). Yesterday they went door to door trying to get supporters to hit the polls, and as it turns out most of them had already voted. Today they're supposed to make phone calls. I'd love to dive in and do more myself but my active duty status prevents me from doing some things. Here are some pictures and a video from the rally.
The crowd was "mildly" excited to see Obama.

Nothing terribly new about my Deployment. I'm leaving in late November and the date has shifted a couple of times. We're still going to Baghdad and we've been really busy getting everything ready. My mother flew out to visit me last weekend and she cried in the airport when we dropped her back off. I'm 34 years old and she still cries. My step daughter is only six years old, and I'm mostly worried about how she's going to handle me being gone for so long. A year is an eternity to a young child.
TWO MORE DAYS! The signs are good for Obama but I can't help but be nervous.
EVERY SINGLE VOTE COUNTS! This election is so important it's not enough to simply vote. Everyone should make it their mission to get at least one other Obama supporter to the polling booth.
Cheers everyone!
