The Charlotte Observer has a really nice article closing out the early voting story in Mecklenburg County today.
By the time they finish counting, more than 205,000 Mecklenburg County voters will have cast early ballots, Michael Dickerson, director of the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections, said late Saturday evening.
Officials say the figures represent more than 33 percent of registered voters in the county, and about half the expected turnout for this election.
They also have a nice gallery of early voting photos showing the huge lines of people that flocked to early vote yesterday, some of them rustled out of their houses by none other than yours truly.

By the end of early voting on Friday, daily voting totals for the county. were over 17,000, up from a previous year's record of 9000-some.
10255 of them, including me, had voted at the UNC Charlotte site, where Obama will speak early Monday evening. 6737 had voted at the library near my house.
For those who are wondering how it's going in NC, that's how it's going.
And in Mecklenburg county this year, new registrations look like this:
MECKLENBURG 18 to 24 17,077 5,108 10,384
MECKLENBURG 25 to 39 21,292 6,683 13,066
MECKLENBURG 40 to 64 15,928 4,636 7,367
MECKLENBURG 65+ 2,426 1,025 1,050
Those columns are Dem/Rep/Unaffiliated, respectively.
My canvass shift starts at 1:00, so I must be off.
