I’ve canvassed, phoned and donated. I’ve worried, celebrated and wondered. My back hurts, and I still have some phone calls to make, but, after tomorrow, I expect my demands for the following government entitlements to finally be heard:
- An independent judicial branch
- An end to rightwing saber rattling on Roe v. Wade
- The defeat of constitutionalized bigotry in California
- Accountability in the Executive Branch
- America’s former moral high ground
- Tax breaks for companies that create jobs in the US
- Elimination of the regressive Bush tax cuts
- A living wage
- The safe return of our troops
- habeas corpus
- The crow PA voters are about to serve Jack Murtha
- Reconstruction of U.S. (that’s right, US. Not Iraqi, not Pakistani, but US) government agencies—from FDA to FEMA—left gutted by the Bush Administration
- Affordable tuition and health care
- An increase in funding for charter schools
- A restoration of US prestige and dignity abroad
- A new chapter in the American dream
- The death of Rovian politics
- A complete and total Sean Hannity meltdown on November 5
