My mother and I live in South Carolina about 50 miles apart. I live in Greenville which is in the Upstate and my mother lives south of me in a smaller city named Greenwood. I don’t make it to Greenwood often because most of the time my mother comes up here to spend time with my wife and I and her grandkids. We have Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthday’s, and other visits here. There’s more to do and it’s easier for her to travel then for us to take all of the kids to her house.
Yesterday was my mother’s birthday,. My wife and I and our youngest daughter decided to take a ride to Greenwood to take her out to lunch. Greenwood is one of those towns where one road takes you in and one road takes you out. Anyone who makes the trip is very familiar with Highway 25.
As many of you know, being a red state dem can be tough. Living in one of the most conservative parts of a red state even adds to the the turmoil. However, I must admit, I do have fun with it. I laughed at the McCain supporter that I saw in Publix that was wearing a shirt that said, “Don’t tax me bro, I’m Joe the Plumber!” My wife and I both have the bumper stickers and the yard sign (which has been knocked over) and we are proud of where we stand and will engage anyone at anytime about it.
The sign I saw yesterday when I arrived in Greenwood to see my mother did not make me laugh. It is plastered on a marquis of a store called Delta Electronics. This store is infamous in Greenwood for putting politically incorrect right wing statements on their sign. I lived in Greenwood in the 90’s and they had a blast with Clinton, Lewinsky, and the Impeachment. Because of their politics, I and many other people I’m sure, have never stepped foot in the store. Even with their history I never expected to see this on the way into town:
Why it really upsets me is I recently got infected with the Bird Brain Flu, you see, because I voted for Barack Obama and Joe Biden today. Their is no cure for this type of flu and it is very infectious.
What's really sad is the people at Delta Electronics are going to have to be quarantined tomorrow to avoid the spread of this disease. It's about to spread like wild fire across the nation. I hope while they are in the secluded area they will use their time to try and figure out what happened. They might want to ask themselves, how were all of these people infected? How did it spread so quickly? Where's Sarah?
Here is the publicly listed information about Delta Electronics in case you want to give them any advice on how to avoid this outbreak.
*A note to Mom: Don't worry, we are about to win this thing BIG! I hope you enjoyed the lunch. Happy Birthday.
