Sure, Mrs. Hockey Mom got all the attention for dropping pucks at NHL games (and having the home team go into a tailspin immediately afterwards).
I thought it was interesting that on Tuesday night in Vancouver, BC -- they actually had to DELAY a puck drop to re-start play in the game between the Canucks and Nashville Predators.
It seems as if during a stoppage in play, the public address announcer announced that Barack Obama had clinched the U.S. Presidential election.
What happened next was something out of Game 6 of the '94 Stanley Cup Finals (a classic game won by the Canucks over Mark Messier -- not Wayne Gretzky --- E6 -- thanks for the correction --and the New York Rangers).
On Tuesday, shortly after 8pm, the crowd of 18,000+ at GM Place erupted in cheers -- and they wouldn't stop!!! Our neighbors to the north understood exactly what had happended, and they couldn't be happier.
I thought that was pretty cool.

Note: The Rangers ultimately won Game 7, and the Stanley Cup -- but Game 6 is, to date, the greatest hockey game ever played in British Columbia (from their local standpoint).
