Wooohooo!
Peter Goldmark, the racher/biologist/environmentalist from Okanogan who ran a strong campaign to unseat Cathy McMorris in WA's 5th CD in 2006 has been declared the victor in his campaign to become the next Washington State Commissioner of Public Lands!

Goldmark ran a very strong campaign against a 2 term incumbent Republican Commissioner who was bought and paid for by timber interests, and whose lax oversight helped cause landslides in the state.
Peter was able to raise roughly $1.1 million to overcome a $600,000 PAC created in the last month of the campaign by timber and mining companies to take down Peter Goldmark and buy the election.
THEY FAILED.
Now we have a progressive reformer in the office who will promote green energy production on our public lands and who will manage our state's vast forests for THE PEOPLE and not for a couple campaign contributors!
I spent all summer working on Peter's campaign in Eastern Washington. We put up 4x8 signs all over the place and made phone calls to local voters.
Considering the huge scale of Tuesday's election, the race for Washington State Commissioner of Public Lands might not be in the front of many people's minds. But for those in Washington State, this is huge. We now have a Commissioner in charge of our natural resources who actually understands how precious they are.
THANKS WASHINGTON!!
