Taking yet another step down Tyranny Road, Sen. Feinstein said today that she's drafting a bill that would make it a federal crime to resell tickets to Obama's inaugural.
Apparently the tickets are granted to members of Congress, who are supposed to distribute them for free, but there supposedly are bids for them on Ebay, et al. The article implies that Feinstein's bill would generally ban reselling ("scalping") of such tickets, not just ban Congressmembers from selling them. The latter ban makes sense; the former injects the federal government into yet another category of purely private, consensual acts that its representatives should think long and hard about invading.
Please call Sen. Feinstein and urge her to stand up for Liberty, not to make ordinary citizens into criminals for reselling inauguration tickets.
