Twice, the California State Assembly and State Senate voted in favor of Marriage Equality, twice Gov. Arnold Schwarzenneger vetoed the legislation. The conservative California State Supreme Court voted to overturn Proposition 22 and the ban on Marriage Equality in a 4-3 vote. The Proposition 8 ban on Marriage Equality has already been ruled to be unconstitutional and three lawsuits filed thus far will go to the Supreme Court to overturn Prop 8, just as it had overturned the anti-gay Prop 22.
The American Civil Liberties Union, Lambda Legal, and National Center for Lesbian Rights have been joined by the city of San Francisco, 44 members of the California State Assembly and State Senate, the Anti-Defamation League, and others as friend-of-the-court to overturn Prop 22.
It is only a matter of time before the influence of the Mormon cult, the Catholic Church, the Baptist church, and the Knights of Columbus be eradicated on the issue. Join the fight against bigotry on Saturday.
President-Elect Barack Obama, Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA), Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Gov. Arnold Schwarzenneger (R-CA), and all major office holders in California opposed Prop 8 and stripping gays and lesbians of equal rights and 'the fundamental right to marry' as codified in the CA state Constitution as stated in the conservative CA Supreme Court ruling.
The Desert Sun, and all of the major California newspapers all opposed Prop 8. The bigoted Gary Jeandron (R), candidate for the 80th Assembly District went down to a resounding defeat in the election due to his support of Prop 8. The coward Mary Mack (R-CA) refused to take a stand on the issue.
