Today was a day of nationwide protests in support of gay marriage. The demonstrations were organized by people across the country, using Join The Impact as a springboard. The event was co-ordinated very well, in my opinion, with MySpace, Facebook and text messaging used to spread information about the rallies.
I want to use this diary to provide a link to all diaries pertaining to today's rallies across the country. Leave a link in the comments, and I'll post a link within this diary! This diary can serve as an index for all other diaries. Show us all at DK pictures, commentary, stories and whatever else you want!
The AP reports that rallies happened throughout the country, from NYC to San Francisco.
Crowds gathered near public buildings in small communities and major cities including New York, San Francisco and Chicago to vent their frustrations, celebrate gay relationships and renew calls for change.
It wasn't just NYC, Chicago and San Francisco that held rallies today, however. I live in Austin, TX. We had somewhere between 1000-2000 people show up in front of City Hall. It was a wonderful experience! There were several speakers, including a young boy who spoke of his gay parents. It was truly a great showing! One of the best things the boy mentioned was that only 23% of people in the US are involved in heterosexual marriages with children, supposedly the "ideal" family situation. It's interesting that what we're led to believe is the standard in America isn't actually occurring that often!
So I have a few pictures, which actually aren't that great, but they'll help me remember nonetheless! These are thumbnails: click for the big ones!
