If you thought I was talking about Barack Obama, a man whose middle name was given to him by someone who obviously didn't think he would run for president, shame on you!
No, this one will make you fall off the wall, I am talking about one of the biggest celebrities in the world. Michael Jackson! Yes, that dangerous one!
It all caught my attention with this title: Michael Jackson 'converts to Islam and changes name to Mikaeel' and I thought: Great, the Onion is at it again! Because they always sound invicible with those titles. But wait, this is not the Onion!
The telegraph reveals today Michael Jackson converted to Islam! That's right, Michael Jackson!
The singer, who was raised as a Jehovah's Witness, converted to Islam in a ceremony at a friend's house in Los Angeles.
Oh well, it's not that bad, other great musicians converted to other religions, Bob Dylan did it at least 3 times, Cat Stevens became known as Yussuf Islam, so I wish Michael Jackson peace and happiness with his new found faith.
Last year his brother, Jermaine Friday, suggested Jackson would convert having taken an interest in Islam since Friday's conversion in 1989.
"When I came back from Mecca I got him a lot of books and he asked me lots of things about my religion and I told him that it's peaceful and beautiful," said Friday.
I just hope this could shade a positive light on a religion much despised (because most people don't know about it) in the States. But I'm not sure Jackson was really the kind of publicity Muslims hoped for.
Have a good Saturday with good music (and learn the ABC lyrics):

Among other famous people, Cassisus Clay changed his name to Muhammad Ali (From When We Were Kings, Norman Mailer speaking about Ali and George Foreman during the most famous fight in history (no blood on the dancefloor in this one)):

Note: I'm a French Atheist. I just happen to be interested by religion and religious people for whom I have deep respect as long as they wish the best even to people who don't share their religious views.
