So far Obama's cabinet selection is driven primarily by intelligence and pragmatism! Given the dire economic situation one may argue in favor of selecting people with pragmatism, experience, intellligence, and of competence.
However, citizens, especially the progressives, are asked/forced to reconcile with the fact that these same group of people (directly or indirectly) are also responsible for the current global economic crisis, and poor US standing in the world stage.
Hence the debate regarding the relative importance of ideolgy, pragmatism, experience and competence reverberated throughout the traditional and new media.
Below you will find mostly a video blog (for more authenticity).
Sorry for any grammatical and spelling mistakes. .... Enjoy
Who is responsible for this systemic failure? Were there indications for such a massive failure? If so, why we did not know? What has prevented to take necessary steps to thwart such faulire? How could such an economic meltdown happen before the wide open brilliant minds of our time?
Who is to blame?
the failure of brilliant minds?
or their flawed economic principles
Can we blame it to the pragmatism of the greed of congress and Wall Street to ensure a bright future for themselves and their descendents?
Can we blame it to their competence of looting the financial institutions?
Can we blame it to the brilliant minds that can foresee the loopholes of corporate laws that in turn were created and finely attuned to their needs by the brilliant and experienced minds of their legislative brethrens?
Finally, can we blame it to the utter disregard to the basic human morality by these crooks?
Noam Chomsky reflects on Obama and his Cabinet Selections:
Ideology vs. pragmatism: Is one more important than the other?
.................
"Ideology" is not a bad word. It refers to nothing more than one's set of political principles and core doctrinal beliefs that exist independent of considerations of utility. It's nonsensical to try to assess political leaders or policies based solely on "competence" and without regard to "ideology."
...............
The eagerness to eliminate "ideology" and venerate "pragmatism" in politics is understandable, but it's neither possible nor desirable.....
.......Glenn Greenwald ... Salon
The Democrat mocks that the republican "celebrate ignorance"
What happened before the economic meltdown? What have failed the brilliants, the pragmatics, the competents or the experienced in preventing the meltdown?
Are they really competent enough? Did they feign ignorance? Did they not react to pursue their vested interest?
Are the democrats going to celebrate the misdeeds of the clinton era? Are they going to celebrate the feigned ignorance of their brilliant and competent minds? Are they going to celebrate their moral failings?
It looks like the democrats, as a team, are pursuing a coded conduct:
Silence, a deafening silence
...............The culpability of the democrats:
Listen to Bill Clinton regarding who is at fault regarding the financial crisis
According to Greenspan the problem with the housing market was first noted in 2006 and nothing was done despite calling for regulations. In fact the democrats in congress repeatedly denied it and prevented regulations
Here is Barney Frank who is now Leading in the House to solve the Crisis.....Really??!!
O'Reilly confronted Barney Frank On Fannie Mae Mess!!
The Brainiacs are unable to or unwilling to solve the problems.
The British were able to get much better deal for the Taxpayers.
But what did they do here in the USA?
They screwd up in the past and once again screwing up the taxpayers....Bigtime!
Why?
Are they (the players in the crises) looking after their friends in the wall street? What about the HedgeFunds? Who makes money when Wall street goes Belly-up?
Why is it so easy to get bail out for the wall street in the weekend without any hearing?
Why is it extremely tough to get bail out (for much smaller szie) for the "Big three Auto"?
Instead of answering these questions the Democrats and the MSM have gone silent!!
So here are the fundamental questions
What crisis are we in now?
Is it a moral/ideological crisis?
Is it really a crises of paucity of brilliant minds, of experiences or of competence
The democrat rewards a culture congruent with lies and deceives for political reasons and Power
The democrat nurture a shameless traitor in the name of Unity
Reward people who are eager to take the country to war!
Do we really have a choice?
The revolution of "change - we can believe in" is driven by moral/ideological standing against:
an unjust war and foreign policy
an unjust economic policy
unjust social policies
"The brilliance of minds, compentence and pragmatism all are essential but not sufficient traits of a successful governing institution. However, the person sitting at the helm of the government should always be guided by his moral compass. A moral code encompassing those principles and policies"
that's the change we are hoping for
Hope in the face of Uncertainty
The Audacity of Hope!
Hope not to fail our "Best Hope"
