I'm surprised, to be honest, that nobody has commented on this as far as I can see on DailyKos.
Did anyone notice anything particularly interesting about the video of Obama's Thanksgiving address on YouTube? I'm not talking about the speech itself; I'm referring specifically to how the video was posted to YouTube.
Here's the clip again:
Notice anything different? Anything that hasn't been done previously by the campaign, but that is highly appreciated by, at the very least, a good 10% of the population?
Oh, that's right; you probably don't have captioning turned on by default. Go ahead, click the little up arrow in the corner of the video, and then click the CC button.
See it now?
Yep. The Obama transition team has actually listened to constituents such as myself and slinkerwink, and started adding closed captioning to its official videos. And the Thanksgiving address isn't the only one; a good number of the "Inside the Transition" videos, which formerly didn't even include a transcript on the Change.gov site, are captioned as well. I'm hoping there are plans to caption the entire backlog of videos, but even having only the newest videos captioned would be a welcome enough addition.
Just when I think the upcoming administration has finished surprising me, they go and do something like this to demonstrate that they get it when it comes to those of us with disabilities.
