I like Rachel Maddow fine, I just don't watch her program. Too much overlap from Olbermann, and I prefer Olbermann's entertainment level (and I don't have time in the day to watch two hours of anything).
I want to give some props to her, though, because somehow my Mom and Dad caught on to her during the tail end of the election, and they are now completely devoted followers. I mean, gushing. I get email every now and then asking me if I saw Rachel do such and such, etc. More kudos on the flip.
Even more to the point, it now turns out that the program engaged them in ways I hadn't imagined. My mom went out of state for two weekends to campaign for Obama because of some story Maddow had run. I'm positive they gave more money than they probably even could've afforded because of the engagement they got on this front.
I'm usually a cranky complainer but, as they say, 'tis the season to show our appreciation, so thanks, Rachel. Now if you could run a program explaining why email chain letters are a bad idea for my Dad to see, I'd appreciate it even more.
