This is another in a series of photo diaries meant as brief distractions from the news of the day. This edition is sort of a potpourri of images including Hawaiian sunsets and waves, great white sharks from Guadalupe Island, some zoo critters and a few birdies. Please feel free to post late night pooties and woozles or your favorite photo.
We will start with Carcharodon carcharias, the great white shark. These images were taken at Guadalupe Island off the coast of northern Baja.
A good look at the chompers. The line is merely a rope with a tuna carcass TIED to the end. No sharks were harmed in the making of these photos.
The reason the sharks are at Guadalupe Island.. northern elephant seals...
a little smile....
Back to Hawaii here is the iconic native Hawaiian forest bird.. the I'iwi (ee-EE-vee) or Scarlet Honeycreeper.
Surfing's Mecca... the north shore of Oahu....
For those of you stuck in colder climes, I give you Lanikai Beach. Close your eyes and picture yourself here...
A shot from the water at our new President's favorite bodysurfing spot, Sandy Beach...
Another Hawaiian Honeycreeper, the 'Amakihi...
The expressive face of Josephine, a female Orang Utan at the San Diego Zoo....
a wise Bonobo, also from the San Diego Zoo.
and I will finish with a westside Oahu sunset. I hope you have enjoyed this little episode in self-indulgence. Just feeling a bit lonely and wanting to connect.
