There are sometimes periods where I end up asking a lot of questions as I read coverage on news sites. Some of them are rhetorical. Some of them are outraged. Some of them are of the flabbergasted variety.
I wanted to share some of my questions with you, as I seem to have a lot of them lately, in hopes for some creative answers from people, as well as additions of questions I hadn't thought of (please add in comments - please. Really).
So, here they are.
Why are real journalists still paying attention to Rush Limbaugh?
Does anyone really still think Fox News is "fair and balanced"?
The news lately shows accelerating deforestation in the Amazon, massive coral reef losses, huge numbers of species disappearing, polar ice at record lows...and still people don't seem to get that our planet's environment is in massive flux. They deny that somehow we have some kind of effect. How is that possible?
When is the concept of Creation Care going to really catch on with evangelical people? Why on Earth HASN'T it?
How do people NOT get that investing in alternative energy technology R&D is a growth industry and NOT see that shifting our economy that direction is a giant WIN?
What's it going to take for religions to stop thinking they all need to outbreed one another, and start asking if maybe responsible reproduction is a conservative value?
On that note, why isn't conservation a conservative value? This one still stumps me.
How the heck has Karl Rove managed to escape prosecution?
Have the people of Minnesota ever noticed that Norm Coleman sues EVERYone he ever gets into an electoral contest with?
How ashamed do people who voted for Bush (especially if they voted for him twice) feel now? Any polling on that?
Is the electorate's collective memory and the press's desperation for a story that sells short and long enough, respectively, to really, honestly make Sarah Palin a contender for 2012? Really?
How do people think that sexuality is a choice?
How do people miss the fact that when evangelicals attack gay people's rights, they open the door to violence against gay people?
How are "liberal" and "pragmatic" somehow mutually exclusive, as purported by Leslie Stahl? How did that get to be anyone's CW?
When are Democrats in Congress going to wake up and realize they WON...AGAIN? And what's it going to take for someone to challenge Harry Reid as majority leader, and step up and act like the D's can get something done?
Why is Susan Collins still a Republican? (Actually, I think I figured that one out.)
What's wrong with Rahm Emmanuel saying "f*ck" a lot? I want an attack dog behind the scenes at the White House. In fact, I want lots of them.
When I saw Milk recently, I noticed that, in addition to Ronald Reagan's op-ed piece against Prop 6 in 1978, they have on film that then-President Carter publicly opposed Prop 6, too. How did we get to a point, 30 years later, that no governor or president or presidential candidate or other public official of either major party would stand up and LOUDLY proclaim opposition to Prop 8?
How did all the authorities not see where Hurricane Katrina was going a week ahead? WTF? When Katrina struck Florida, I looked back at the tracks of Betsy and Andrew and I knew exactly where it was going. What the heck happened? Did no one say, "Uh, this is a problem, people"?
Okay, that's enough outpouring. Those are my questions. What are your questions? Got any answers?
