A man died today. The man was one with whose politics we vehemently disagree, pehaps even loathe.
I was not a friend of this man but I had met him. In person, he was gracious and acted like a gentleman.
Come beyond the fold for more.
A diary was written about this man's death and it didn't receive much attention prior to sliding off the front page. Ordinarily, I would just have ignored the diary and let it die a natural death but I found this diary to be a disgusting piece of hate that I would have thought would be more at home on Free Republic than here on DailyKos.
This is the comment I posted to the diary:
What a disgusting display of hate within our own (0+ / 0-)
ranks. Everyone who posted here should be ashamed of themselves.
A man died today - a man with whom none of us agreed politically, but a man nevertheless. What kind of a warped soul revels in the death of another human being?
I have met Paul Weyrich and while I think his politics was wrong, his demeanor was always that of a gentleman. He died at a relatively young age, 66. He suffered a spinal injury in 1996, which left him wheelchair bound. He also suffered from diabetes and lost both legs in 2005.
You sit here behind your screen names and take joy in a man's death - a man who may have been wrong but who stood up for what he believed openly.
In other words, you are craven cowards and you disgust me.
