The asshole actually has something approaching a glimmer of clarity.
"I came with the idea of changing the tone in Washington, and frankly, didn't do a very good job of it."
Yeah, you think?
He still can't quite bring himself to say "I didn't do a very good job of it, because that's how he deals with personal responsibility for his mistakes.
And of course I'm sure that, if pressed on it (which he wasn't because he was speaking at AEI), he'd blame it on "both parties" (which means Democrats only).
And naturally he throws in a bald-faced lie:
I don't want to be a self-serving fellow ...
HAH! When have you ever been anything else?
... but I have never used my position as president to personally denigrate somebody.
Saith the man who said"However they put it, the Democrat approach in Iraq comes down to this: The terrorists win and America loses."
Oh, I guess that was different. That wasn't personal; that was bidness. That was staring at the possibility of not being in charge anymore, and "everyone knows" that all rules of human fucking decency go out the window then.
Nope. Not a heckuva job changing that tone, you fucking sadist*.

*See? I didn't talk that way when Clinton was president!
UPDATED/edited because I offended some people with my opinion of what makes Bush the way he is (a quick scan of the comments will reveal what it was). I apologize for that and I don't want it to detract from the point.
