NASA to take part in inaugural parade
"The National Aeronautics and Space Administration says it has been invited to march in President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural parade Jan. 20.
"The crew of NASA's recent STS-126 space shuttle mission and other agency officials will join representatives from across the country and our armed forces in this historic parade down Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington following swearing-in ceremonies on the steps of the Capitol," space agency officials said.
In addition, NASA said its contingent in the 56th Inaugural Parade will include a small pressurized rover. That vehicle is a concept for a new generation of lunar rovers that astronauts will take with them when they return to the moon by 2020."

POLL RESULTS:
Yesterday poll "ARES I - Love it or Leave it." Was not a shock, as with most space watchers, DKOS followers didn't like the Ares I either.
December 8th the Ares V was voted on and 41% loved the idea of America having a heavy lift launch vehcile. Not so with the Ares I, only 4% loved this rocket. 31% voted that America should "Slow down, lets take a look "under the hood" then make a decision.". In one of the strongest showing for the alternative Direct 2.0, 20% wanted NASA to look at this option more seriously.

YESTERDAY'S COMMENTS:
"I support the NASA program, however I think short term government spending should be focused on some of the pressing economic woes." - good ain't it vern
"I would argue that the transition team does have the pre-reqs to be able to discuss and understand the budget situation. Among her history - advisor to Senator John Glenn (yes, that John Glenn), space adviser to the 04 Kerry campaign, space adviser to the Clinton campaign, former head of the NSS, former NASA Associate Administrator of policy.
She has a great background with space, and NASA.
In fact, all of the members of Obama's transition team have a good history with NASA or space or both
I think this is less about Griffin vs Garver, and more about Griffin wanting to protect the current plan, regardless of anything else. Griffin has not responded well to critism from other corners, as well" - Ferris Valyn
