During the campaign we heard a lot about lower income voters whose interests are traditionally catered to by the Democrat party but who instead vote Republican.
I just discovered how Comcast could be helping to steer lower income voters to the Republican party. More below...
My mother who lives in Michigan recently lost her job and is wisely scaling back on a lot of fronts. One of the first things she did was call Comcast to cut her cable package back to the bare bones package. She called me yesterday and mentioned what she had done. I immediately asked, "Do you still get MSNBC?" because I know how much she loves to watch Rachel Maddow, et al. She turned on her TV and scrolled through the stations. Low and behold, she gets Fox news but NO MSNBC.
She called Comcast right away for an explanation, and a manager there told her MSNBC is more expensive programming so they're not offering it in the economy package. But we're convinced there's more to it. Could Comcast and Fox be in cahoots to serve up low income voters to the Republican party?
Think about Michigan as a potential battle ground state, and think of all those folks there rationally cutting back on expenses, who now are limited to Fox news or the basic local news stations to get their political information. Many can't even afford internet service, so they won't even be able to log on here or elsewhere to get countervailing opinions.
Anyone feel like we're onto something? Does this incense anyone else, like it did us?
