And yet another nail in the coffin of Hillary Clinton's failed bid for the Democratic nomination:

          running a camapaign has costs: staff, ad buys, fliers, venue fees, etc... For the past couple of months, the Clinton campaign has spent more than it has brought in (legally usable in the primary).  Thus even though staying in the race may result in gross contributions, it sees to result in a net growing debt position.

          Besides, if you are a Hillary supporter, are you likely to hand over big bucks when her biggest IOU is to Mark Penn??

        As well, your rationale assumes that sunk costs are meaningful in the calculus, which they're not (or shouldn't be).  There's nothing to finish out.  It's like the war in Iraq.  You don't stay in it to honor the already-dead, or the costs you've already incurred.

        I agree with an article I remember reading a few days ago:  She can't drop out as long as she keeps winning states.  Her name has to remain on the ticket as long as there are racists that haven't voted.  For her to drop out while these people are still voting on mass for her would be a slap in the face to over-70, white, "working class," over 5'7" but shorter than 6'2", blonds, who live in single-family dwelling within 5 miles of a community center.  And, that is now our most important demographic group!!

      But there's actually some basis for that. Dean hasn't closed the door on FL and MI. If those two are seated, then Obama needs the 2209 number.

      It's all a matter of what comes first.

      Obama's smart though. Here's how it'll go down:

      May 20, Obama gets the non-MI/FL pledged delegate win and declares victory.

      Between May 20 and May 31, Obama gets lots of superdelegates to commit.

      May 31, an agreement is reached that seats FL and MI. Likely, Hillary gets 74, Obama gets the rest in MI, and FL delegates stand as voted on.

      The numbers are added up, and Obama gets more than 2209.

      68.5% is possible in WV, but doubtful--she really is her own worst enemy. Someone with 50% national disapproval ratings doesn't get 70% anywhere remotely neutral.

      She'll get 65% tops in WV and maybe 58% in Kentucky. KY has twice the AA population as WV, and bigger cities.
