I'm still doing a slow burn as I read the monthly civic assoc newsletter and noticed that the January Monthly meeting's guest will be a guy who owns a firm called Lantern Wealth Management. The quotes from the news show exactly what side of the fence the guy is on and what side of the fence the head of the association is on. Grrrrrrrr.
Concerned about your taxes and where they might be going? What does 2009 and the new administration look like for our taxes? Is there any way to fight back?
Mr. Hill, CFP, CLU, ChFC will discuss these questions and the benefits of the Fair Tax.... [Mr. Hill] is very well versed in the tax code and personal finance -- please join us for what will surely be an interesting discussion.
WTF? I mean really WTF? Aren't there rules about civic associations taking partisan stands? They have yet to invite advocates for progressive taxation in my memory.
And getting beyond any notion that my civic association should be non-partisan, it really frosts me that the head of the association would be so stupid as to support the "Fair Tax" in the headwinds of the deflationary environment we're headed into. Hooverism didn't work back in 1929-1933 and surely it is NOT the answer now.
Anybody have any good talking points to shove in the face of this guy later this month?
