There is a diary on an anti-Israel protest in Dublin.
Within that diary was the following comment lauding such protests in general:
went to the demo (1+ / 6-)

in london. it was awesome. throwing shoes at downing st and burning the zionist flag in front of the zionist embassy. good times bro.
It had six hide-ratings until someone finally up-rated it. Some asked why it was up-rated. I asked why it was down-rated. No one seems to want to answer. So, let’s take it apart ourselves, to find the offensive, hide-rateable component:
went to the demo in london. it was awesome.
Simple, declarative statement + modifier. Nothing offensive.
throwing shoes at downing st
A bit cheekier, but that’s a familiar impulse in political protests against imperialism these days. Carving up the Imperial Turkey apparently was (and still is) a bit messy and complicated, to say the least. Someone may legitimately object to that brand butchery, no?
and burning the zionist flag in front of the zionist embassy.
Personally, I'm not a flag-burner, but I wouldn't rule it out as a form of protest. Again, some people oppose the way the Ottoman Empire was carved up. Being anti-Zionist is a legitimate opinion on historical outcomes, whether one likes it or not.
So, once again, I ask why was this particular comment troll-rated?
I suspect people’s emotions are getting the best of them. There’s an awful lot of piling on these days that seems minimally in discord with the site's rules on ratings.
