Some of you may remember my diary of a few days ago, in which I said that if Harry Reid made certain, ah, accomodations for letting deposed Sen. Coleman vote even though he is no longer the sitting Senator from Minnesota.
While I didn't say that I thought for sure that he would do it, my main point was that he was capable of such cowardice, of, as a commenter recently put it,
he punts on first down.
I couldn't say it any better myself.
And today? Today is the day that Harry Reid has so patently, stupidly and transparently punted on first down.
Today is the day that he performed an act of such niggling cowardice that Arlen Specter was seen blushing from miles around.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says lawmakers have the legal authority to block Burris' appointment, but Reid has also left open the possibility that Burris could be seated.
.....
What?
WHAT?!
You, Senator Reid? You, the man who said that you would "block the door" of the Senate to keep Burris out?
You are LEAVING OPEN THE POSSIBILITY OF LETTING HIM BE SEATED?!?!
To be clear, I don't care if Burris is seated or not. But what I do care about is having a SENATE MAJORITY LEADER, not a doormat.
A real Senate Majority Leader makes good on his or her promises, whether they are wise or unwise.
I've had enough, folks.
I have nothing else to say here, but I will say one more thing that I said in my last diary:
If we cannot stop this man, if we cannot rise up and help facilitate change in the Senate, then we are part of the problem in Washington, DC.
We will be part of the McConnell/Boehner/Palin conspiracy that is soon to try to slow down the right man at the right time for this country.
Is that something we can accept?
It's not something I can accept, and I hope you'll agree.
