Our poorly maligned and misunderstood President really needs an image makeover. I mean he is dogged by charges of incompetance, immorality, illegal behaviour, stupidity and other egregious charges against our soon to be former Commander-in-Chief.
It is so unfair that he must live under such a cloud when, if as he believes he is being treated unfairly there is a simple solution.
George W Bush should call for an independent Truth Commission on Iraq and the War on Terror and should welcome a Special Prosecutor. Because if he is truly the victim here then he almost assuredly should welcome that the truth come out.
My advice to our President is simple: advocate for a fully independent, congresssionally appointed commission to deliver the truth. After all, if he and those in his administration did NOTHING WRONG, then he should be especially anxious to make sure that the truth is know. Also, encourage all in his Administration to cooperate fully, from Cheney down to that guy who runs the copier at State.
We as a nation deserve to not have these vague (and by vague I mean fully documented) accusations of approving of illegal torture, illegal prisons, illegal imprisonments, illegal wire taps. We deserve these accusations to be wiped clean from staining President Bush (or you know stain him absolutely, just sayin').
I mean, that is, if he truly believes he and his Administration are not guilty of anything. Of course if they are true I suppose we need to know that, too, but he seems pretty confident he is guilty of nothing, so what harm could come to him from taking such a course of action?
Now some of you may mock this call to Bush to CLEAR HIS GOOD NAME. Some of you may think it will end up as a complete whitewash. Is ay to another type of wash...HOGWASH! Our President is nothing if upfront and honest about everything, like how Iraq caused 9/11 or how every house in Iraq has a chemical weapons stash in it's backyard. I see you rolling your eyes, but this is precisely the point. It is all so vague, I mean so we never discovered WMDs and there have been numerous reports that the WMD intelligence was manipulated in the best possible light for the Administration. Sure Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, but they could have if there had been any evidence. But is this really "evidence".
I mean "evidence" is a lot like "torture", just call it something else, like "enhanced interrogation" and everything is possible.
Please join me in calling for a truly independent Truth Commission to clear President Bush's name once for all (or, you know, reveal the horrible atrocities and law-breaking this Administration has perpetrated over the last eight years, either way is good.)
