Politico's Jonathan Martin rudely interrupted a friendly, informal visit by President Obama to the White House press area with a sharp question.
Obama handled it graciously, as always.
Politico reported it reasonably, as always.
HuffPost preyed off it and spectacularized the crap out of it, as always.
Here's the vid:
HuffPost's Jason Linkins apparently felt there wasn't much real news happening these days, so he simply invented some out of thin air. Titling his 3-paragraph cry for attention "Obama Press Meet-and-Greet Interrupted by Actual Question", he then goes on to describe Obama's "irritation".
Watch the masterful Linkins limn the sharp features of outlaw hero Jonathan Martin, who saves us all from appropriate behavior and basic good manners by "doing some journalism" and pissing all over President Obama's affable goodwill:
The meet and greet -- which Obama held ostensibly to pay a friendly visit, learn the names of various reporters, and field questions about basketball -- was going according to plan, for about three minutes. That's when the Politico's Jonathan Martin suddenly did some journalism, ensuring that the President would learn at least one reporter's name.
Ostensibly?? What the fuck?
Ostensibly? Obama did in fact come down to pay a friendly visit and learn the reporters' names, as the video demonstrates and Obama clearly articulates, several times.
Linkins concludes his journalistic opus thusly:
Still, props to Martin, because as questions go, "How do you reconcile Bill Lynn?" is an exceedingly fine one!
Touche'! Round One to the man with the barb-ed pen!
HuffPost is a fucking joke. And the greater a joke it becomes, naturally, the wider its readership. This kind of shit would get hounded off dKos for not qualifying as a diary, yet at HP it's frontpage stuff. Right alongside Brangelina and Britney.
