I'm no puritan here -- heck, I've been in the sea services, and I umpire little league. I've heard it all and I've dished it all out. All things in their proper place. I don't use certain words in front of my kids, nor would I with my boss nor at a school assembly. I readily admit, though, sometimes a well-chosen and timed cuss is le mot juste.
But I am not a fan of the use of four-letter-word-style invective in these pages. It conveys a tone of disrespect. It makes the conversation uncivil from the start. It shows a lack of imagination (and a lack of vocabulary) as well as imprecision about expressing the point. And it fosters an attitude in the discussions that is not conducive to comity.
In particular, I think the tone has been set from the top, by our dear Kos, who drops F-Bombs like he was operating a Predator drone over a Taliban hideout. I'd like to ask everybody, Kos especially, to think twice and then thrice about introducing your basic swearing into a blog post.
And you know what? I think the charges of "The Angry Left" often originate from people who blanch at the language used herein. Perhaps style influences the way people view our content. I'm just sayin'.
My challenge: at least have a civilized discussion without cussin' in the comments.
Now, fire away.
