Rove compares Conyers to Captain Ahab
By Ed Brayton 1/29/09
Earlier this week, Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, issued a subpoena to former Bush adviser Karl Rove to appear before that committee. Now Karl Rove has responded rather derisively:
"I don’t know if I’d call it a witch hunt; I don’t think of myself a witch," Rove said during an interview on Fox News’ "O’Reilly Factor" on Wednesday night. "He’s sort of like Captain Ahab, and I’m the whale."
...
Rove has long claimed that executive privilege shields him from ever having to testify in front a Congressional committee.

The verbal imagery is being well painted ... "witch hunts, great white whales, and mad obsessive hunters" ...
Nice easy sound bites, and for those GOP parrots, to learn and repeat -- BUT what do Whales and Witches, have anything to do with the Misdeeds of the last Administration? If Karl Rove is SO innocent, why does he always try to hide behind Executive Privilege?
Hey, Karl, "If you've done Nothing Wrong -- Then you SHOULD have Nothing to Hide!" (as I recall the refrain from about 5 years ago).
Maybe Karl is sensing the "sea change" at hand?
Rove Offers to Testify About Siegelman Prosecution, Not US Attorney Firings
By Jason Leopold, 13 February 2009
Rejecting a compromise offer from ex-White House political adviser Karl Rove, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers issued another subpoena — the third in less than a year — demanding that Rove appear before Congress in 10 days to answer questions about his role in the firings of nine U.S. Attorneys and the prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman.
Seeking to head off the latest subpoena, Rove offered to testify about the Siegelman case – presumably to deny any role in politically targeting the Democratic governor – but continued to refuse to talk about the U.S. Attorney firings, a deal that Conyers deemed unacceptable, according to a letter between Conyers and Rove’s attorney, Robert Luskin.

Why would Rove want to diffuse the Siegelman case -- quite likely because of the "Road Map" it represents to the Dirty Tricks, orchestrated by himself and the DOJ, to stack those electoral decks, around the country.
If you are unfamiliar with the Don Siegelman travesty of Justice case -- you should get up to speed. That case is illustrative of the GOP's Dirty Tricks Playbook, run to "get their guy" back into that Alabama Governor seat. It's is also frighteningly similar to the other US Attorney "Indictment" tactics, played out in many states, during the 2004 and 2006 elections. Those US Attorney's that DID NOT "play ball" were fired. (Makes you wonder How many DID "play ball" with Karl and the DOJ?)
60 minutes breaks down those faux "Indictments", that sent Don Siegelman to jail, and sealed the AL Governorship, for the Prosecutor's spouse:

TalkingPointsMemo - looks at the Siegelman case too (TMP Video)
and strongly urges a serious investigation:
Did Karl Rove sic the Justice Department on former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman (D)?
The connection to Karl Rove and DOJ and the Alabama Distirct Attorney is discussed by TMP, including the implications of insider witness testimony.
Hmmm ... makes you wonder WHAT DID happen to those 5 million, missing White House emails? (And WHAT really happened to Mike Connell, the GovTech IT maestro, who knew all about those missing emails, and who was ready to talk?)
Maybe there IS a "Witch" lurking behind the scenes, who is "a pro" at Misdirection, and has tons of experience "making things disappear" too?
Seems like they've been running this Divide & Distraction play, for far too long now ...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Vice President Dick Cheney Tuesday dismissed congressional investigations into the firings of nine U.S. attorneys as "a bit of a witch hunt."

Enough already -- give us OUR Country Back!
No More Lies!
Postscript:
Here's another shady razzle-dazzle play, that makes you really wonder about our supposed "Free Press". Funny how the Locals in Alamaba get their own custom CBS News Feeds:
... According to Larisa Alexandrovna, "during the 60 Minutes broadcast and ONLY during the Don Siegelman portion -- the screen went black for Huntsville residents and Mobile residents."
According to a Scott Horton of Harpers ...
I contacted CBS News in New York and was told that "there is no delicate way to put this: the WHNT claim is not true. There were no transmission difficulties. The problems were peculiar to Channel 19, which had the signal and had functioning transmitters." I was told that the decision to blacken screens across Northern Alabama "could only have been an editorial call."
Channel 19 is owned by Oak Hill Capital Partners, who can be contacted through Rhonda Barnat, 212-371-5999 or rb@abmac.com . Oak Hill Partners represents interests of the Bass family, which contribute heavily to the Republican Party.

Big Brother is not only watching you -- they've been been running the scam of century for the last 8 years, too.
A throughout investigation, is NOT a witch hunt, it is NOT a blind obsession -- it is a necessary condition to restore our Democracy.
If we let Scoundrels flaunt the Law -- we have sacrificed much more than just honor -- we are handing over our Freedom.
The Truth DOES Matters!
Progressives need to learn to frame THAT Message, loud and clear.
And we need to Stand Up with John Conyers, and Patrick Leahy, to bring Daylight to excessive Wrongs, done behind the scenes, in our names:

We CAN "move forward",
AND "review the past" too, both at the same time!
Postscript 2:
NO Seriously it Matters.
Let me remind you of some of the significant abuses of power:

Next time it could be much worse ...
