As I look back over this last year I will be thinking of the individuals that make up the dailykos community. I landed in the midst of this place during the primaries. My heart and mind were 100% with Obama. Sure, I joined the fighting fray and, yet the highlights were diaries of folks that were active. I still salute all the people that donated, that went door to door and that went to rallies. The citizen bloggers that got out there each and every day to fight back the Republican lies. You put your he arts, your time and your money into one voice for change.
So, yes, this is a good-bye at least for now. But, a bigger thanks.
Thanks for what? Beyond the politics and the campaign I found a community of living breathing people. In this community are folks that are facing the same worries and cares of all Americans. The sick, the disabled the dying. The jobless. The houseless. People faced with bigotry. Diary after diary you linked hands not to whine, but to change things. You offer solution. You are active in changing the wrongs.
It does not get better than that. To my view info is power. Truth needs to be told. And, in my real voice "America needs to wake the fuck up." In saying thanks, I am also asking you to keep your voice loud and clear. Never ever shut up.
No, I don't really want to say good-bye. I'm equating it with intellectual death. It is just to damn hard to see the words. They've grown fainter and fainter. I'm picking up some neuro symptoms that are to say the least interesting. I'm a hoot in the kitchen...
I don't have medical insurance. And, no ready supply of cash. After my last encounter with the medical field, I swore I'd never go back. I got ground up between the medical insurance companies and the doctors. I have a deep bitterness towards the medical field that I used to work in.
This week, I'll gather up my courage, overcome my bitterness and try to find help. I hope this can be reversed. I'm the one that nurtures...I don't like the idea of being dependent. And, not reading words is the death of my soul.
The coming battle is health care reform. Hats off to all the strong voices in this community. The battle will be long and bloody. You'll need to get the American people behind you. You will need to fight the Republican scare tactics. They will lie and scream as they take money from insurance, drug, and medical companies. But, I think you can win it.
I'll end with another thanks. For the future battles.
