Hello, everybody and welcome to the first Labor Diary Rescue, where we look at the pro-union diaries that didn’t quite make it to the rec list. Treat the comments section as an open thread, and feel free to discuss the other diaries.
As most of you have read on the front page already, Hilda Solis’ confirmation as Labor Secretary is expected to be voted on tomorrow. And as it always seems to be, we need 60 votes in the Senate to make sure she isn’t blocked. It’ll be great to see such a pro-labor Congresswoman be put in charge of the Department of Labor. If you have any Senators sitting on the fence about her nomination, make sure you give them a call.
First up, Union Review states the obvious in Unions Are Good for the American Economy.
Second, thisisnotanexit gives an update on the situation with Burger King in Victory! Burger King backs off opposition to Employee Free Choice Act.
And finally, RustyCannon calls out former Bear Sterns cheerleader Jim Cramer in Jim Cramer Calls for Union Busting to Solve Automakers Financial Troubles.
In the future, if you have a pro-labor diary that you’d like rescued, make sure you have the word Union in the tag. Enjoy the thread!
