On the third day of his decimating week, Jon Stewart tonight turned his new-asshole ripping gaze from last night's destruction of Rush to tonight's demolition of both CNBC and the Dow Jones Industrial Average. How should I put this? I don't think we have to worry about Rick Santelli starting any more tea parties.
Tough to tell which was my favorite part. I'd have to say it was a toss up between videotape of CNBC's adoring recent portrait of $8 billion Ponzi schemer Allen Sanford on the eve of him being exposed ("How does it feel to a be a billionaire"" "Pretty good"), Stewart starting his own revolt on his set for being stood up Santelli, or the graphic of a Dow Jones Industrials average ticker being embedded in Barack Obama's face so we don't have to be distracted by watching it in the corner of the screen while we are trying to listen to what Obama is saying. I haven't laughed this hard since . . . yesterday!
Or maybe it was showing us the unimpeachable accuracy of the Dow with a comparison to other Dow lows (We win WWII! Reagan elected!) and highs (Titanic sinks!).
Repubs better keep quiet on Thursday morning. There's still one show left this week.
