Dear Mr. Olbermann,
May I call you Keith? No? Fine then, umm Mr. Olbermann, I really appreciated your show for the betterment of the last 4+ years. Even though I didn’t agree with you all the time, I still watched the show to see who you would take to task for that news cycle fuck up. That being said, the last week or so I’ve been very disappointed in you and your show for (at the most) the lack of courage you’ve had holding those close to your company as accountable as you hold others (Dana Milbank anyone); or at the very least covering a media brouhaha that has had everyone talking for the same amount of time. Please follow me after the jump to see what I’m talking about...
For the last week or so, we’ve had diary after diary (like this, and this.) discussing the beat down that John Stewart has been giving CNBC, and as of late Jim Cramer. This beat down has been so one-sided that GE has had Jim Cramer on CNBC’s entire lineup of sister networks to try to nip this in the bud, but it’s only backfired since he doesn’t understand the concept of satire and comedy. He has repeatedly opened his mouth and inserted his foot, and thus opening another entire target set for John Stewart. Yet there hasn’t been one segment by you, Mr. Olbermann (David Shuster doesn’t count, as the infamous Bone told Alonzo Jackson played by Denzel Washington "You got to put your own work in around here.").
Yet when you are about to give us one of your "Special Comments" you grace us with your presence and drop us a quick preview so that we can sit on the edge of our seats being thankful for someone, hell anyone to finally speak truth to power. I have to admit that you were a tad bit over dramatic in a few, but hey it’s your shtick and it works for you. So I ask where is the "Special Comment" for the travesty that is Financial News or a segment of the beatdown that John Stewart is giving Jim Cramer.
If John Stewart was knocking around Neil Cavuto or anyone else from FUX, I’m pretty sure that you would have discussed that on your show. But since it’s one of your/GE ingrown fuck ups is it truly off-limits?
At least Rachel Maddow, had the courage to highlight that fact (in a joking manner) with her conversation tongiht with Frank Rich. So where is your populist progressive outrage of the way that CNBC covered financial news, and the thugs CEO's who have put America, hell the world in a Pulp Fiction like Rape scene?
With that said, sir, Good Night and Good Luck............
