If I were George Bush I would never, ever, emerge from my "undisclosed location" in Dallas, Texas.
I have just spent the past hour watching President Obama speaking, and answering questions, before the Business Roundtable. He has covered education, energy, tax policy, health care, cap and trade, international affairs, multinational corporations, jobs, and the economy. And he did it in nitty, gritty detail!
I know that he gets daily briefings and has the best prep for these appearances of anyone on the planet, but so did George Bush. And, the difference between these two men is thrilling.
These Q and A sessions are a real eye opener. There is no way to prep for everything. There is no way to use the often criticized teleprompter. This is Balls to the Wall intelligence and engagement in the weeds of issues that are critical to a group that has historically not been that supportive of Progressive politics.
And, he is more than holding his own!
He is witty, amusing, relaxed, and filled with Wonderful Wonkyness. And, from the tenor of the questions and comments, he has 'em right in the old palm.
If this diary hangs around for awhile, I'll post the link. It is not yet up at any of the Usual Suspect sites.
Here it is:
Obama at the Business Roundtable
