Let's shun the AIG and other financial "wizards" who have done so much damage. Or at least shame them. Don't think it could work? Maybe it could.
The practice of shunning, still done by Amish and some Mennonite congregations, involves deliberately avoiding association with and habitually keeping away from an individual. It has been known to cause behavior modification in the "shunee."
It may be that the AIG and other miscreants don't have the moral equipment to be touched by shame, but I'll bet enough of their families and friends do to create an impact.
So let's demand a list of those people receiving failure bonuses and "retention payments." Post them online. Post them on billboards in their towns. Newspapers could volunteer a page to print the list--people would like that.
They seem to have no shame. Maybe we can whip some up for them.
